The traditional and picturesque village of Argyroupolis is built on the site of ancient Lappa and is one of the most beautiful villages of Crete. It is surrounded by a rich and verdant vegetation with huge trees, wild plants, and exotic waterfalls.

The village lies 21 km south west of Rethymno and it counts, 700 inhabitants most of whom are engaged in farming and cattle breeding. The village is not that developed, but it offers several amenities to the tourists such as a police station, a gas station and a post office. Excellent taverns lying amidst the lush surroundings, where you can enjoy the idyllic scenery and the Cretan specialties, are worth a visit.
